correct way to uninstall on a mac?

big problems with lightroom 1.1 and i think i'm going to yank it and start over. this is my first mac. what is the correct way to uninstall software?

Most programs, including LR, you just pick it up and drag it to the trash. PS etc have uninstallers, but that's the exception. I'd then do a spotlight search for 'lightroom' and delete off the leftover files.

There are a few programs which will do that for you, if you're not comfortable with it.

That said, in your case, I'd be inclined just to try deleting the preferences file first, instead of deleting the whole lot, and maybe try a new catalog.

The likelihood of the program file itself being corrupted is fairly slim. Find YOUR USERNAME/Library/Prefe​rences/com.adobe.Light​room.plist and delete that. And try holding down Opt while you open LR next to start a brand new catalog too, so if that works.

Just drag the icon to the trash, then empty it. This does not delete any of the support files that are found in the root Library and your home Library, but these files are innocuous - they only take up space.


"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.
