The plenitude of flowers is something I wouldn't expect to see - great!

Dave, can you tell what is drying in the pic #158 of the Richtersveld trip? I assume something to eat?

Thanks again for great links!

We are going at the time of year when flowers are everywhere around the west coast. I had planned in a trip to see the wild flowers just east of Springbok, where I have been before, but seeing these shots makes me think we are better saving the time and heading straight to Richtersveld that morning. The flower displays look just as good there, if not better. I love the scenery. I think some time driving around, some time exploring on foot and some time just sitting at the cottage watching the birdies and relaxing will be wonderful in such surroundings.

I dunno what the hanging stuff is. I haven't seen that before.

Just out of interest did any of you guys see the BBC program about the circumnavigation of the Tropic of Capricorn? This evening 'he' started in Namibia and moved on to Botswana. I surmise you can likely catch it on the BBC iPlayer.

:)

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

Never saw that one Brownie but I will keep an eye out. I did have a shot of me standing astride the TofC next to the sign they have in the desert but it seems to have fallen out of my computer and disappeared. Shame ...

Looks like "bokkoms" or air dried fish, although I can't see them very clearly.

Thanks Matatazela! - You must be right. Googling bokkoms brings lot of hits.

Let's hope we can taste those. :p

Kingsley Holgate - I have met him on his Cape to Cairo expedition. Very interesting crew!

In case you're wondering why I'm up there I had just 'signed' the sign :D

Be sure to go to Kirstenbosch. Loads of flowers there, including tons of Proteas
