Does anyone have any information about the upgrading plan to upgrade a b800 to a b1600? i cant find any information on their site, and i'd like to upgrade if i could, rather than buy new all new lights.

Within two years of your purchase date, our factory will upgrade any AlienBees flash unit (B400,B800, B1600) to any higher power model for a charge of $25 plus the price difference between the original model and the model which you upgrade to.

What exactly were you looking for? $25 for depreciation and usage seems like a pretty good deal to me. That plus the difference in price between your model and the upgrade gets you a brand new light (or would they send you a refurb unit?).

Or is your strobe older than two years?

It looks like they rebuild or refurb your current unit to the upgrade.

Great deal though. I never read all the fine print. Might have to send in my AB800's.

Actually I believe they add a capaciter or two and maybe change out the flash tube (if going to AB1600). Since that is about all they need to do. There maybe one or two small something elses other then the case change out, but basically only the number of capaciters define the difference between models.

+1 on that suggestion. Can't hurt.
