I still use my A1 for black and white and my much loved and still perfect F1 in an underwater housing for surfing shots along with my Nikonos V.

Still have but rarely use my two Leicas, Rolleiflex and Hasselblad but mainly for reasons of memories of the overtime I had to put in in the mines of North Queensland in the 70's to buy them.

In comparison modern DSLR's are plastic toys and not precision instruments that you had to look after lovingly.

I still remember the neck muscles I developed with a helmet mounted F1 and motor drive during my early skydiving days (70's)

I've been carrying the dslr in the tail bag, but your picture has me thinking about what I am going to do with my older chase harper tank bag!

Nice thing about the tank bag is I can shoot without dismounting. Sometimes, if I'm in a dangerous spot or in a hurry, I even shoot with my helmet on. If you do that it's a good idea to frame the shot a little wide.

You need to add a film option.

I still use my D60. It has not been that long with my 40D, but on a recent trip out east, I took along the D60 because I spent a day on LI Sound in a boat. I find it is fine in daylight at ISO 100,200, and 400. And I never realized how bad the AF was on the D60 until I shot the the 40D.

I plan to keep the D60 in the event I am shooting WA and have need for telephoto also. Less lens changes

I still use my Eos-3 regularly. It's a classic to me, with its weather sealed button operated menu system and 45 eye-controlled AF points. I feed it Velvia and it produces great landscapes.

Another camera I consider a classic although many will disagree, was the Nikon FE. Sadly I exchanged for an FA, a big mistake as it looked clumsy and never felt "right" in my hands, even though it had a much better spec.

It's funny how very small differences between cameras can make one either love them or hate them.

Even though I now have a 5D I still shoot a lot with my 10D.
Just Saturday, I was at my cousins home in Maine for his 80th birthday celebration and I was going to set up my 5D with the flash and ... then I decided, for this small house party, why not just shoot the 10D with the built in flash. It wasn't overwhelming and I doubt anything will be printed larger than 5x7, even though the 10D can print much larger.

Using the 10D for this was a good choice, even the walk around some of the acerage he owns checking out the start of the foliage.

Then all day Sunday I had the 5D in hand as I cruised the coast and sought out a number of lighthouses.

Just rethinking ... I guess I sort of look at my 10D now as my "point & shoot" camera with more options! :)

NONE of the choices in the poll are anything even close to what I would call a "classic" camera. Now, my two Nikon F cameras which I purchased in 1967 are something that I think anybody would call a "classic" camera.

Anything made in the last ten or maybe as far as twenty years surely would not be considered a "classic" in my opinion.

I've got one of those too. But I don't shoot film any more. Shameful, but there it is. Digital is here to stay - at least for me.

Here's a link to a photo of my old Nikon goodies. Unfortunately, I don't use mine any more either, but it is all still in good condition.

Don't forget the good old Minolta days, I have an old SRT 101 MC II (fully manual) and the best of the non auto focus, the X700. I took great shots with them and I had real fun. Seeing now that the X700 sells under $100 on ebay makes me feel sad....

Two bodies left, some "soso" lenses, and still a lot of gear.....

mmm reminds me of the Nikon FM2, what a lovely camera that was. The Pentax k1000 wasn't bad either, especially for its age.

I'm still using the 10D, but I hope to buy a 20D or 30D at the start of next year, since the 10D is on 45K clicks atm. I hope my next camera will serve me as well as the 10D has!

The 10D isn't really mine, I'm only borrowing it long term off my Dad, who swapped his A-1's and FD stuff for it, I remember it being a straight swap for a 10D with a Canon EF 28-200mm F3.5-5.6 which was £999 (£750 being the refurbed 10D) Shame really, had he swapped them today, he could've come home with a 40D instead! Or a 10D with a much nicer lens! :(

That's quite true, although not many people appreciate the old FD stuff (or other old cameras) these days. It's tough to explain why using an old manual camera has such appeal when there's a more accessible, higher-spec DSLR within easy reach. But the old stuff is sweet in a special kind of way.

You could take a Nikon F or FM2 to the summit of Everest, you couldn't do that with a modern camera - and if Canon tries to tell me that you can, they're telling lies ;)
