Well when i got my 40d i said im getting the expodisc to try it out. I've always had a problem with trying to get the right WB with street lamps (hid).

I used it the other day and was impressed by it and how much more accurate and more true color there is in the pics.
Well here are 2 pics i took yesterday or saturday with expodisc and daylight WB. There is a noticeable difference between the 2.

Daylight:

Now i tried to use the expodisc tonight, but it was to dark to get it to work. Either that or im just stupid. I cannot for the life of me get the proper WB for the outdoor street lamps that shine white, not the orange highway ones. I tried every preset WB in the 40D, even the Kelvin white balance going thru all the different temps and none got the proper color, all were green. Is there any hope to get the proper WB with this light source?

You might try using a WhiBal card to get your WB to where you need it. You'd take the card and put it in the light source that you want to adjust the WB to, in your case being shined upon by the streetlight, and take a photo of the card. Then in post processing, you would just adjust your WB settings to the photo of the WhiBal card. It works great and is quick and easy.

They have a video instruction set you can watch to get a feel for the cards and how to properly set your WB in post processing.

Here's a pic of my card in "action".

i had a grey card in my old bag, but i threw it out when i cleaned out both my old bags since it was bent a bit and i had just gotten the expodisc. i'll look into the one you recommend.
