Dreaming..

I had a few versions of this photo, but I kept getting drawn back to this one.

What do you guys think? Too close?

Works for me. I think the 'too close' or 'wider' shot is really dependant on the person and the mood and changes shot to shot. Nice shot, although the tones look a bit weak, ie. the shot looks a bit flat. How did you convert to b/w?

Thanks Dave. I played with curves then used selective desaturation + hues, then 95% desaturation. Was going for a 'soft', dreamy look to it.

I'm pretty certain that the monitor I'm using needs to be calibrated.

Definitely not too close for my taste!! Actually, I am about to become a grandmother for the first time and am looking for ideas - and I just found one from your beautiful image. What can you tell me about how it was shot - lens, etc. All tips welcome. I agree with the lighting comments.

I really like tight framing, and this is a perfect example of when it works IMO. Beautiful!

It works for me, esp the way you described wanting your end result being. Looks good.

I love it. Would maybe tweak the levels a slight bit for a bit more contrast. The crop works wonderfully here

You know the old saying in battle: Don't shoot until you see the whites of their eyes.

I try to remind myself: "Fill the Frame."

Great job. It is so impactful that way.

Beautiful shot, beautiful little girl! Gotta love those precious little eyes and lips!!

I believe you're right Mark, fill the frame. I've been struggling with that one, as I keep trying to not cut off any of the subject and end up being too far out.

Thanks for pointing that out and thanks for sharing the pics!
