Help! My BG-E4 is stuck!

I cranked it down so tight that the inner sprocket broke...do I need to pry it off and buy another one?

I think you should rather send it to Canon. I doubt prying it off would be entirely too healthy for your camera.

Why the heck did you tighten it that much anyway?

I can take it apart without breaking the camera, I've done it on my 30D (embarassed smiley face)

I just got tired of it coming loose

Ohhh I had that happen....
I used a flathead screwdriver in the teeth, and used a little bit of pressure. came right undone. Now i'm sure to never tighten it that tight ever again.

LOL, so how did you get the grip off the camera?

sorry *blush* my sprocket didn't break... I did over tighten though

I had the crappy grip for the 20D get stuck last year. I ended up having to use a hacksaw. I vowed then to never own another Canon grip!

When that happens try to following:

1) put the camera + grip on your lap (or on a low table)
2) press down the camera with one hand and unscrew the grip using the other hand.

That how I was able to remove the grip from my camera when it got stuck.
