On Thursday I went to my usual camera store as their website showed they finally have the 40D in. Now, I really didn't know if I was going to be bringing one home today but wanted to get a feel for it. Well, after trying it out, it followed me home. The first thing I noticed was that big LCD on the back. It made my 20D screen look almost unusable. Comparing the shutter sounds makes the 20D shutter sound like err a cannon. I played around with remote live shooting from my Mac. That will be handy when I am using my photo box.

I haven't tried comparing IQ between the two bodies, but I am happy with the results so far.

1 and 5 were shot with the nifty fifty and the rest were taken with the wigma.

I hope you are having as much fun with yours as I am.

Is it me, or is there a lot of pixelating/noise with this camera? I was surprised with the results when I looked at images I shot in Photoshop. At more than 100% the noise is visible and especially fine hair seems jagged. Am I seeing things?

I've been digital since the D60, and have a 20D, 30D and now 40D with all L series glass.

Cheers, Joe

Maybe I haven't tried comparing hard enough to notice but I haven't been able to see what you are seeing. I might try setting up for testing this out though. Of course if I do notice, it might disappoint me then

Snapdog - I don't think Nicko was responding to you. He was responding to the original poster that he thought the dog's name was "Wigma" because of the way the OP titled that pic. The wigma is the nickname for the wide angle sigma zoom.

The nifty fifty is the 50 mm f/1.8 MkII.

I think it is snapdog that has the D60. My first digital SLR was a 20D.
