I don't think so. I doubt my insurance would cover that at all. :)

That is one very nice photo. I hope that photo pays for his new 5D;)

"Chorier uses a Canon 5D camera and the whole rig can weigh about 2kg, with lens and extra battery. The camera cradle operates by remote control and can achieve a 360-degree rotation and 90-degree tilt. Here Jodhpur fort is pictured."
I don't think it is the regular remote that we use.

I don't see why not. Having said that I'd be more interested in using smaller, lighter cameras such as compacts and on smaller, lighter kites.

There is an estes rocket kit that you can buy to do it very cheaply. It has a VGA camera so no great images but it's fine for most people.

Well the force of gravity is (-9.8 )(2 kg) = -19.6 N. FNet must be > 0 to accelerate upwards, so the force upwards must be above 19.6 N. I have no idea how much wind you would need though for a 40-sq foot kite in order to give that much force, but it's a considerable amount. (I'll be totally honest and say that I forget the formulas that would let me find that out :P)

Anyway, very neat shots, my insurance would cover it... but I don't dare to try anyway :P

Wow...I think if I ever get into semi-arial photography though, I'll still to poles. Pretty scary. Of course, if you can count on making 10k-15k off one photo, losing a body every once in a while may not be such a big deal.
