This is the eBay ES-71II lens hood for $9.30 USD shipped from Hong Kong, by eBay seller "efefore". I searched the forum for a picture of it before ordering, found no luck. Figure it would benefit someone looking for a cheaper alternative to the $30 Canon OEM hood.

The build quality of this hood is pretty good, locks on the lens barrel nice and tight. And because its small size, I feel it's strong enough for protetion. It has a fuzz material for inner lining, and can be mounted in reverse on the lens.

I got a generic hood for my 17-55 from them, the lens itself too.

Just ordered a lens to suit a 10-22 from them also, so now for the lens:p

I have the same hood myself (or similar) bought off Ebay for a fraction of the cost of buying in the UK. I have no complaints at all. In fact I never even thought about it not being a genuine Canon item it is so good

I bought my 50 hood from them too. Nothing wrong at all with it. It's the Canon recommended hood for that lens.

are you able to attach the lens cap with the hood on for this? also, is the official canon lens hood able to be attachable to a lens cap as well?

Sounds good. I never thought the money for the 50 f/1.4 hood was worth it due to the recessed element, but for $9 shipped, it's worth it....just ordered! Thanks! Now I have a hood for every lens!
