Took a few shots recently but didn't post them until now. As always, click for full size.

1. The largest freaking preying mantis I've ever seen. He was seriously about 5 inches long.

Excellent shots Chris - man that Mantis is HUGE. If we don't see you posting again, we'll know what happened to you ;) I'm surprised at the Bees mating, I thought they all had a Queen/worker structure, obviously not.

Thanks everyone!

The mantis really took me by surprise. It was so heavy that it would bend the flowers it was walking on!

I actually got to see it "hunt" a fly, and it was really something. It just stood stock still as the fly slowly came closer. Then, out of nowhere, it lashed out so fast that the fly didn't know what hit him! I knew they were fast, but it was so cool to see such a big one move so quickly.

As for the "mating" bees, I just assumed they were mating because that's what is usually happening when insects get on top of each other ;). It never occurred to me that they could be fighting.

Oh, and thanks for the ID macro junkie!

O they are definately mating, i just dont no if shes enjoying it too much;)
