I know this has to be something simple but recently I've had occassion where I press down the shutter and nothing happens. When I look in the display everything is green and there is a 9 to the right and a green flashing circle.

Can someone advise me, please?

Thanks!

The green circle is the focus confirmation light. If the green circle is flashing, then it hasn't got a focus and won't take a picture (check page 41 of the manual). The 9 tells you how many pictures you can take until the cameras buffer is full (page 61 of the manual).

What do you mean by everything is green?

If you're in one-shot mode and the light is blinking you can't take a picture. It means it didn't obtain a focus lock.

What they said -- no AF focus lock.

If you're in AF mode and the lens isn't adjusting at all, it means you're too close to the subject.

Hi i just buy a 400D too, this is my first SLR camera, so I’m learning how to use it, the other day i notice the same thing, when you don’t have focus lock, it won’t shoot, you have to re focus or re compose,

I buy a 400D, Sigma 17-70 and Canon 50 1.8.... Now i need more HD to store these RAW files

All the numbers and symbols are the color green.

I will check out the focus. This did happen when I was trying to do macros and close up shots.

Thanks everyone!
