First attempts: I borrowed a Canon 60mm f2.8 from a friend at work. Here is my first effort of an Orb Weaver.

Very good first shot. Welcome. You will find this macro to be very addictive once you start.

Yep...very well done. I too am new to this but it is amazing at what you can see when magnified...I really like the Canon 100mm Macro Lense...so do dozens on reviews like you can see at Amazon.

I also discovered the pains of good lighting with my first attempt. I made several efforts to get my flash underneath the subject. I tried using a bowl lined with tin foil to bounce the light back but was unable to get the desired results. Definitely need to invest in a off-camera hot shoe and I think the 100mm f2.8. The 60mm just doesn't provide enough distance for some shots. ;)

Macro certainly provides challenges, that's what makes it so appealing. Until you realise how much it costs... :(
