ok, so my origional question wasn't detailed enough! lol. I am looking for a program to produce a decent quality slideshow that I can attach in e-mail. The program I use was not working. I ended up just hosting it on my website like I normally do instead. Oh well!

I use showit web for my website and for adhoc shows on my blog, its great for this sort of thing, theres a link on the show to allow people to email the link to their friends, embeding a show in an email is probably a bad idea for a number of reason.

Heres a sample one on my web made with showit http://www.boundlessphotos.co.uk/sample_wedding.html (external link)

You will find quite a few people here using showit, its aimed specifically at digital wedding photographers.

Most will be much better hosted on the web than emailed. If I had to email something i'd probably do it with proshow and make an exe, but that's windows only.

You know as well as most though Tim that an exe would get filtered out by a lot of systems these days, so then you start giving it a temporary extension to get it through the email and asking the person the other end to change it back to an exe after saving it, only to find that they dont have the extensions visible in their windows setup so your presented with another issue .... I think emailing anything like that can get messy pretty quickly, much better hosted on the web as you said.

slideshowpro is a pain in the butt if you dont know any flash or dont order the director software as well..

showit is the best for people that dont want to learn anything and it makes totally awesome slideshows.

You need to locate a slideshow program that will create a video that can be exported as a stand-alone player. IOW, a program that does not require a copy of the program itself to be in the recipient's computer to play the show that you emailed.

I don't think you will find a program that creates a Flash video that can be emailed. Programs that create in Quicktime video format can be emailed and played on any computer with Quicktime player installed.

I don't know what is available for Windows. For the Mac you can do this with FotoMagico. TalaPhoto is another available option and it is available for both platforms.

Hope that helps,

Rick
