That's the thing. It's built like a tank. I know that I'll never need to buy a new backpack, and even with the amount I've used it, you can't really tell it from new.

I love my Karachi Outpost, I was fortunate enough to pick one up used in wonderfully mint condition on Craigslist for only $140 CDN (approx. $150 USD). Not only is it a tank, but it fits both my laptop, 50d, lens (17-55, 70-200 2.8 IS, and 50 1.4), and 430ex easily. If I remove the accessory pouch inside, I can easily fit another gripped body inside.

I've always felt more comfortable and secure wearing backpacks, and with the Karachi it feels very light on my back, even when fully loaded. I don't mind the inconvenience of having to remove my bag to take out my camera.

Woah, thats one hell of a deal. The karachi is my next bag.

BUUUUUT....

I just scored an 8 Million Dollar home. It's my first crumpler, and I like that I can keep my 24-105 and hood on the camera and still have room for other goodies, but it's ALOT of wasted space with the limited gear I have.

It's not really wasted space. It's more like reserved space for more L glass :)

Those pouches on the side, what are they called? where can I buy them?

The larger one that is the same colour as the bag is a Bundle (might be the large one), the small blue one is a Thirsty Al and the small one with the orangy brown flap is a John Thursday. Should be able to buy them all online or at your local crumpler store.

I've got two of the large bundles hanging from either side of my 6MDH, they work great. Usually carry my 30mm 1.4 in one and a flash in the other. Depending on what else I have in the bag at the time of course.

Hi, im looking to get one of the million dollar home bags for my gear.
Can anyone with similar gear tell me which one would fit best please?
I have a 450d with a grip
17-55 - with hood
10-22 - with hood

would this fit in a 4MDH or would a 5MDH be better suited?

Thanks

5MDh. 4MDH is too small. I'm probably about to sell mine...again.

Ha, I saw that someone created a "velcro silencer" for their MDH, and decided to do that too (Was it _aravena's?) 3 pieces of velcro tape and one mutilated zip lock bag later my 7MDH's velcro is more silent and easier to open.

I don't know if I love it or hate it, but Crumpler bags seem to be "projects" that you buy and then start to modify to your liking instead of getting a readily made one right out of the shop's shelf.

My 8MDH has them built in.

What I hate is that the inserts are adjustable. And I can't Keep from tinkering.

Yup. As far as I know the 8 Million dollar home is new as of mid to late 2008.

All of the new MDH should have the silencers. They are just little flaps that you can tuck behind where the velcro is. I should really do my review of the 8MDH soon. It's crappy weather today so maybe tonight.
