Ok I know you will all be wondering "how sharp is my Lensbaby anyhow" The answer is not as sharp as mine. This is a hand selected and fully operational lensbaby. Fully open BTW.

I don't get it, Lensbabies are selective focus, the whole image looks soft, if the question is of sharpness. ?!??

Yes, that's spherical aberration, made into an art form. ;)

Kind regards, Wim

Soft are you mad. Look at the white area to the left of the "T" in to (sorry it is not in the cropped section what do you want perfection?) That white are is tack sharp it's white white white. Like snow like your very thoughts........ white and blank how much more blankness could we stand? ? ? ? ;)

Smilies off:

Lensbabies selective focus? No more like no focus especially wide open.

Quad,

Wide open they sort of suck. The aperture rings help ...lots.

Wide open ...even a Holga is better...and cheaper.

hahahahahahaha

Lensbabies are of great use in certain types of photography, if you use them creatively. They are not meant to be tack sharp wide open, and they are obviously not meant to be tack sharp stopped down in the non-focus areas. (though I must say my LB2 is very sharp at f/4 and smaller on the focused area).

Photography isn't about sharpness, it's about art (or journalism, or recording family events, depending on your choice and desires.) Sometimes critical sharpness helps to achieve your vision...sometimes a soft, small sweet spot is exactly what you're going for, and the LB helps do that.

If you get the focus right, it's quite sharp, yet soft (abberations), wide open:
