I noticed an issue today.. I would lock focus then go to take the shot and there would be a .5 to 1 sec delay before it shot. I was curious, so I tried different settings with the AF modes and still did it.. So then I called canon and explained the issue and to make a long story short I have to send it in.. So while they have it I want to have the sensor cleaned.. Get this.. It would cost about $70 for shipping with insurance, But about $20 worth of gas to drop it off.. so I will be taking a trip to NJ..:evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil:

Anyone else had this happen to their camera's?

ItsMike,
$70 for shipping? ???
I recently sent my 5D in for cleaning sensor and clean out the viewfinder area and shipping with $2000 insurance thru Fed Ex only cost me $17 (to Canon in NJ) They received the package in 2 days and I am further away then you are? ??? I got it back now nice and clean :)
Hope your camera is under warranty ;)

I've shipped a hardtop for an MGB through UPS for less than that! Anyways, I hope you get everything sorted out with it.

I just got a shipping rate from the UPS site for my location (near SF) to LA (I forget where the Canon service center is, but anything south of Santa Barbara is LA to me anyway).

With a weight of 10 pounds and a declared value of $1500, the surface rate is $21.39.

Your rate to NJ would be a little less, I suppose...

The one thing I didnt try seemed to remedy my issue, I reseated my Battery Grip.. Now it is firing away like it is going out of style..... I will mess around all night with it to see if it is totally gone.. But for future reference Check the grip!!!!

P.S. The 17-55 is one hell of a lens.. I would say it is real close between this and my 24-105 F4 L in the IQ dept..

Mike you can print your own label at ups.com then drop it off at any ups store location. Might even be a tad bit cheaper as the stores are independently owned. You can setup an account and they will send you a bill via regular mail or pay online.

Usually that is how I do it.. But the UPS Store also has all the packing material that one would need to ship anything.. Easier then using the O'le Wadded Newspaper.. HAHAHA..

Thanks for the info.

**Update** I fired about 50 shots so far and it has not returned..
