Sounds simple, go to a store and buy it or order it over the internet. What is making this complicated is that I live in Canada. This lens is selling for $560 to $590 here; at Adorama it is selling for $390 (yes that's in U.S. dollars but for all intents and purposes today a buck is a buck!).

In Canada, Sigma products come with a 10 year warrenty; in the United States its 4 years but the Adorama web site says the international warrenty is one year.

I have read lots of Sigma 30mm posts on this site and question whether I will need after sales service from Sigma to get the lens "right". Sigma Canada is a separate distributer and may not feel obligated to honour a warrently on a lens bought in the U.S.

Your comments and advice would be appreciated; thanks.

Ken

Gear: A bunch of Canon stuff and a bunch of old Olympus 35 mm stuff (OM-1, OM-2, etc).

You should give Gentec a call and find out what their official stand is on warranty service for something you buy in the States. They are the official importer for Sigma in Canada. Sigma doesn't operate directly here and their service is through Gentec as well.

In terms of needing service, if it's for focus as most people seem to complain about, I would think you could determine that well within the first year anyway.

Assuming all is well, it's a great lens.
