Hey everyone.
I have put aside a little bit of money for a decent body

Im looking at investing in some new gear at the next rebate.

I enjoy shooting alot of urban environments, portraits, but also surfing.

I have my eyes set on the 5D and have read the reviews and it looks like a beautiful camera.
But now with all this rumour talk I dont know whether to go with a cheaper body such as the 40d and wait till the 5D mk2 is released and pick that up or just to buy the 5d now?

I understand its just a rumour at this stage, but still..

I would love to hear your thoughts

If you don't have a DSLR, jump in. If you already have a DSLR waiting may OK.

As for as surfing photos you want all the reach you can afford and more. A crop body is an advantage there.

Yeah you're going to be conflicted because the best camera for portraits isn't the best for surfing, and vice versa. The 1D series is a nice compromise.

If you have nothing now, I would get something ASAP. You can generally sell used gear for 75% or so of the original cost. That way you can get a feel of what you like and need.

If you already have an SLR, then disregard...
