Yep, nice review indeed.
I like this guy, he seems to know what he’s talking about.

I am positive that he doesn’t wear his hat backwards and doesn’t shoot with left hand camera.. ;)

What we see depends mainly on what we look for.

I like the-digital-picture.com reviews. I just wish he'd mention one of my favorite new 40D features...

And among one of my favorite new features is the common sense and simplicity applied to what functions are assigned to the buttons near the top LCD. Metering is now paired with White Balance, Auto focus with Drive method, and ISO with FEC. Trust me, it makes much more sense this way.

Am I the only one who finds this really cool? :( I guess so.

Thank goodness, a nice test of noise levels and in context by comparison to a 30D, 400D, and 1DM3 (although I doubt anyone thinking about getting a 1DM3 is thinking about getting a 40D or vice versa).

As a XTi and a 30D owner, I was wondering how the 40D does in more usable ISO's such as 400, 800, and even 1600.

To me, it looks like the 40D and 30D is pretty much same league with at best some trivial pixel peeping difference in terms of noise. I'm not convinced I've seen any difference in JPEG images with the 14bit RAW processing. Maybe in Tiff but I haven't seen any comparison shots with those so I can't say for sure.

The biggest difference is the when compared to the 30/40D, the XTi is a bit noisier at 800 and up while the 1DM3 has less noise from 800 up.

Good test overall. Best in terms of noise level so far.

I still don't understand why Canon rearrange the top buttons next to the LCD on the 40D :(

Personally i'm glad they did.... i find it alot easier/more intuitive with the new arrangement than on my ol' 30d....
