any tips on how to use it? :)

welcome to the xti club. i bought the tamron 70-300 lens for 200 bucks. not a bad deal for a starter zoom. covers a broad range. also i suggest the 50mm f/1.8 canon lens. as for tips, just browse around here, i do and learn alot. also, just go out and shoot. practice practice. have fun!

I'd say start shooting with the kit lens first (was it the 18-55, by the way?), then after a month or so, see how you feel. It could be that you aren't happy with the kit lens, and want a better alternative, or that you find you need more of a telephoto capacity, or you need more wide-angle. What you find out, and your budget, will determine what you should do next.

As for tips - as has been said, practice. Also, avoid extremes, be it focal length, aperture, or anything else. That is where weaknesses will show up.

WOW! Those pics were amazing! Definately changed my point of view. Do you have any pics taken w/your camera (since ours are similar) & the Tamron lens?

i dont know a WHOLE lot about Post Processing, i just used the "auto fix" in paint shop 9 on this, and it looks better. shows you what you CAN get out of this lens.
