Congrats on the camera. I think I'm going to wait until Tax time comes around.

 Yes my 666 post. I'll have to mention this at
prayer meeting Saturday morning.
Am very impressed so far, from shots I took around house
last night with kit lens. ( 28-135 )
Then fell asleep after reading manual.
On my way out the door soon to really put it through it's
paces with 17-40L, and 70-200 2.8 L
The leaves are starting to get some color, here in
E. Central OH, so hopefully snag some good landscapes.
It's gonna be a fun day. Walkin' out the door with lots
of charged batteries ( BP-511A's and 12Mg of SanDisk Extreme III's )
May not be back till after dark.!!!

Why not ship to work? I do!

Because once you get your camera, you're at work --- not at home! Ha.

I would never consider shipping here at work. We only hire shipping gorillas that were deemed to aggressive and rough for the post office. A lot of that has to do with the fact that we are shipping 1500 pound base stations and these guys need some serious upper body mass to get these beasts moving. I fear a 40D would be used by one of our shipping gorillas as something to practice tossing the long bomb to one of his buds.:D

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

There was a time when I would - and have - but we've put on a bunch of college kids and temps, and since then... I'm in the IT department, and since we hired all of them, let's see... what's gone missing?

  • Canon S3-IS (from shipping dock)
  • Laptop (from quality lab)
  • Laptop (from shipping dock)
  • Desktop (from under my desk)
Hmmm.... is that all? Oh, and the vending machines have been broken into, people have had food come up missing from their lunches... Would you risk your job for a friggin' bag of chips???

It's not unusual for me to have $20k worth of gear sitting on my desk, that I cannot lock up.... so I'm amazed that's all that we've had come up missing. They keep talking about putting a locking door to the office...

Congrats on the camera!!! It is real hummer!! I've only had the opportunity to test it twice with my kids in the backyard since receiving it this week. The real test will be tonight at my older son's football...um, now where did that manual go???? Tons of settings...

I perfectly understand what each of you has said. I suppose I am fortunate that such happenings do not occur where I work. Our mail guys always do an awesome job, especially concerning personal packages, and we make sure to show them our appreciation whenever we can. With that said, the other reason I don't fear for, say, a 40D arriving at work is that my department probably has the highest ratio of personal mail/packages to official company mail/packages in our division, and nothing has ever gone missing. The mail guys enjoy bringing us our clothes, books, and electronics just as much as we are excited about receiving them, LoL.
