I'd love to hear/see how this one has worked out, too. For the price and the incognito look, it's an option for a lighter day-bag (and what the heck, my Domke bag, Crumpler backpack, and MRock slingpack might be lonely without a new companion ;)).

...so forgive me in advance for being such a newb. :( I need something small, discreet, and will simply hold a 5D + 24-70L, and maybe a 580ex. I was thinking about the Crumpler 5MDH, but wasn't sure if it'll accommodate the rig.

I've got a Lowepro Computrekker AW Plus that pretty much hauls everything, a Lowepro 75 AW + LC-3 for when I just need the mission essentials for light duty, a black messenger bag with Domke inserts for... some reason, and a photo vest for high adventure photo safari in Lithuania's metropolitan outback, or trekking on Tatooine. What I don't have is a sleek, small, fashionable, bag that doesn't look like a camera bag obviously, and I'm burned out and too tired to research via "Google" or using the "Search" function, and I've got to get up super early to attend a conference all day. Please help. Thanks.

You want the LowePro Omni Traveler. Mine carries 40D & 3 lenses. Love it.

The problem with this bag is that you look like a photographer. This bag would likely be a target to steal, and you wouldn't blend in in a crowd as easily as with the bag in this thread.

According to whom? It looks like any number of bags you might see being carried today. The theory of carrying your gear around in something that looks like a burlap bag so that it is less likely to be stolen is absurd. Thieves don't watch bags...they watch people...openly careless people!

Fair enough. I was just going off of my own judgment and Malone's comments:

Here we go. The bag is made of a soft canvas material. Seems durable enough. Easily holds one body, flash, 2 lenses and other accessories if needed. The important thing is that this bag really does look inconspicuous.

cool thanks.

My solution is rather simple. I have extra foam dividers from my Lowepro Computrekker AW that weren't being used, so there is one of each resting on the bottom of the Domke inserts slots. They provide good padded protection on the bottom of the insert. Plus, I place the extra lens/lenses in the bag so that they are resting on the bottom lens cap, with the business end of the lens top-side for added protection. I'll post pics when I get home tonight.

I beg to differ. The Omni traveler looks nothing like the typical 6-pack style camera bag or larger duffel type bags. It looks more like an ordinary nylon brief case. I put some black tape over the logo to give it even less appeal. It does offer a good deal of padding/protection and is a slim design so it fits into narrow spaces. Other inconspicuous bags lack adequate protection IMO.

Actually, looks more important than a camera bag so it's still a target, but now a camera one. :D

Mine is discrete! :D

Here are my 3 extra Lowepro padded dividers that fit perfectly within the bottom of the Domke insert...
