Is there any way how to fix this softness in images? I use default picture style 3/7 sharpning of picture. What about puting it to higher or by some photoshop action?

If the lens & body are working well & AF is spot on then there shouldnt be any softness issues, I shoot wideopen with a 24-105L on a 5D & since getting the L lens I havent needed to use any sharpening, if I do they look oversharp!

If your getting soft images then its either the lens, or the body, the 24-70L is supposed to be sharper than a 24-105L so something is wrong with your setup if your not getting tack sharp images.

I know it was a typo but I thought it was funny. I'd like to get one of those 24-700mm lenes :D

That's certainly possible.

That said, the 40D's sensor has significantly smaller photosites than the 5D, so small focusing errors will be much more apparent (when viewing a 100% crop of the resulting image) on the 40D than on the 5D. The 5D is going to be a little more tolerant of soft lenses than the 40D for this reason alone.

That also means that, for any given sharp, large-aperture lens, the 40D's focusing system has to be that much more accurate than the 5D's to get the same per-pixel sharpness.

Full-frame has lots of advantages, and this is one of them. :)

Of course I knew what you meant. I proofread my posts and still typos slip by. :D

Was just having fun... I mean, wouldn't that be some ridiculous lens? ;)

We are almost there with the likes of the Bigma 50-500, give it a few more years & 24-700 might not be that impossible ;-)a

Here we go. Today I make some extra testing with 70-200f4.0 and 70-200f2.8 and with 30D body.. I find that pictures at f4.0 or 2.8 pictured with raw (no post procesing just transfering to jpeg) are much sharper with 30D then with 40D but pictures at 40D if you can put f to 8.0 or around it are very good.

New pictures together with 100% crop you can find here (since here is only 8 picture limitation):

Interesting side issue - the "Z" and "Y" keys are reversed on your keyboard.
