If the price difference isn't a problem (like it was for me at the time), go for the XTi.


Canon 40D w/grip, 85mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.8, 20k lumen studio fluorescent DIY light kit, 2 strobe studio kit, 580exII, PW's.

Xti is is the improved version of the XT. The XT is afine camera, but if you got the caash go for the later version, the XTi.

definitely xti if you can afford it. the AF seems faster and more accurante and high iso shots looks better to me too. a friend of mine has the xti and it's very impressive. about as good IQ as a 30D or a 40D i reckon.

I’ve had both and though they are very close, the better focus, larger LCD, and increase in resolution are enough to tip the scales toward the XTi.


Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Thx for the help. I was leaning toward the xti but was worried about exposure issue that I had read about. Thx again.

Actually both the XT and the XTi both have issues. XT = a hair overexposed and the XTi a hair underexposed. But, it’s really a non issue. You can set EC +-1/3 stop to compensate, or shoot in the raw, or shoot manual. It’s really not a very big issue.
