Hmm, that's interesting. The thing is that if Canon had refurbished it themselves, I would expect them to have also issued a warranty with it. I've pruchased some Sony refurbs in the past, for example, and the warranty was issued by Sony.

Check out this thread about a refurbed camera:

It was more than likely just a display model. I work at a little camera store in town and I know whenever a new camera comes out, like the 40D for example, we send all our 30Ds back to Canon to get refurbished or redistributed. And I think you did well getting it. Dont worry about it.

Not trying to be mean or anything... :( Its just that I don't think refurb Canon dSLRs are usually a good deal when you look at all the different factors vs price.

I don't believe that Canon does the actual refurbishing in this case. I've heard that Canon doesn't actually sell any refurbed dSLRs in the US market at all (at least not through third parties).

Someone correct me if I'm wrong I'd understood it was just a 90 day B&H warranty.

I got a refurb 20D from Adorama. It came it a white box with a large Canon logo and refrubished label and seal. There was also a "refurbished" sticker on the bottom of the camera. I think it's safe to say that this was refurbed by Canon. There was no visible wear anywhere on the camera whatsoever and it has worked great.

That' cool. I recall reading a thread here where a member once asked a Canon rep about reburbed cameras and was told that Canon did not refurbish cameras. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the thread again.

Ill ask my Canon rep ( whose actually been promoted to the regional Canon redp ) about it on Monday. Im pretty sure Canon does the refurbishing. I know all the refurbs Ive seen come through my store have been sealed in Canon boxes with Canon stickers. I suppose maybe they just could be "Canon authorized" but I dont know for sure to be honest..
