I found this little guy out today. I tried doing a focus stack but I just could not get it right. I'll keep trying. In the mean time...here is a single shot. I think these guys look so great. Thanks for looking.

im finding that my mantis as hes getting older hes getting red shading in his eyes..i see this guy has red in his eyes...great shot buddie..wonder what species that is?

Thank you Brain. When I saw him, he kind of got into a position and just posed for me. Im going to check to see if I can find him again and try to stack some shots. I'll start with 2 shots and move up.

there 1inch when u buy them,,on the net u can buy them divered in the post..lol..he lives for 2 years but only grows for 1..when hes full size he wil be as long as my hand and very fat..if your in to macro i wouldf sergest getting one..they make great pets and even better macro subjects..
plastic tank with soil on bottom.
heat mat
and small bolw of water with rocks in so he dont drown..easy..then feed him 1 criket every 2 days or any other insects u get..he wil take on any insect and win.when hes full size he wil be able to take down mice and small reptiles..:)

I havent been reading the Macro threads like I used to. They are great. Wow. I remember when I was in the military deployed and bored out of our minds, we would all try to find a preying mantis and capture it. Then we would go out and find it an insect to "fight it." It was never much of a fight because the mantis would always kick the other guys behind. It was great to watch. A bit mean on our part but eh.

not mean..i would think it was mean to get mantis and another mantis then fight then but all your doing is feeding him..:)
