A sad day indeed. I guess us ordinary 'togs can only be amazed by these PJ's who put their lives on the line.

I hope the situation in Burma can be resolved soon without more bloodshed.

Sad day indeed...I'm afraid there are darker days to come from that corner of the world.

The man is still shooting as he lays there. That's true dedication.

This makes me very angry. PJ is a dangerous way to make a living, but to be cut down like that ..... I am just very sad right now. I will say a prayer for his family.

The troop that was in front of him looks all of 15 years old. I hope this is seen all over the world and all of OUR free countries bring what ever pressure to bear that we can.

The mean people are everywhere, no country is exempt, but this is just disgusting.

It is a disturbing photo but also an extremely powerful image of the dangers faced by the media who dedicate their lives to finding and documenting the truth wherever it may be.
According to Reporters Without Borders, 75 journalists have been killed this year. 135 photographers lost their lives reporting the Vietnam War. Here is a link (external link) for the number of media workers who have died in Iraq since 2003. Its a very dangerous business but searching for the truth usually is.
I hope the "saffron revolution" will succeed but I fear that it will fail. I have worked in Southeast Asia for 3 years and have been to Burma twice. I have seen with my own eyes the repressive nature of the Burmese junta and believe that they would rather kill all of their population before they will give up power.

That makes me feel sick. The junta should face the firing squad.

Amazingly 65 journalists etc were from Iraqi news organizations, i thought it would be more international people.

I can imagine it being an amazing job, however i don't think i could do it.

Very sad, but, WHY is he not given gear? is he one of ours (did not read the article) ?

Most of the photogs that cover for us are required to wear gear, not flip flops and shorts...
