RAW not an option anymore with Rebel.

I have an orginal Rebel that I haven't used in awhile and I noticed switching to RAW isn't an option anymore. I'm sure it was at one point, I just haven't used it in ages. Also in the other menu where I am suppose to be able to reset to default setting, that's not that either.... Any ideas, or has this happened to anyone.

Thanks in advance!

I have an original Rebel too. RAW is there as one of the options in the Quality section of the menu. Large, Meduim, Small, RAW.

Or, if your Rebel is hacked, the SET button can select quality.

Check your mode dial, it needs to be in non basic mode to select RAW.

Yeah, I have two options for Large, Medium and Small. RAW isn't an option in the menu....?

Strange. This is the page from the manual, and my screen looks exactly the same.

I can shoot RAW from any mode, BTW.

If your 300D isn't hacked, you can try resetting the camera with the "clear all settings" menu option.

I saw that post. It's not correct, at least not for my hacked Rebel. I just shot a RAW shot in green box mode.

OK, I was referring the Rebels with the stock firmware on it. My assumption is always that people have a stock firmware on their camera unless they say otherwise. :)

Me too. It's been a long time since I had the original firmware on this camera, and I thought RAW was available in basic modes.

It's not - that's one of the UnDutchable hacks.

Sorry, b1gdaddy!

Ok I have Undutchable hack and RAW was not available from the getgo in basic mode. What is available is the ability to change the RAW+jpeg jpeg size in Cfn which is not available in unhack DRebel. Now to be technical RAW and JPEG was never available in the REBEL because its a film base body.

I think it's a bit odd that even on the xxD models RAW is not an option in the "automatic" modes...that doesn't make sense to me. Even on my 5D, you have to be in a "creative" mode for RAW to be available. Something ain't right here...

Canon must think that those who are stuck in Basic mode is too lazy to convert RAW files. Or, Canon feels that Basic mode is for those who likes there Pics ready to print only. Or, it is unrealistic to have RAW in basic mode because its basic.

I think Canon should totally remove Basic modes from 5D. If you ask me.
