I tried the 40D's higher ISO yesterday at birds, and here's a capture of a Lanius cristatus.

40D + Sigmonster + Sigma 1.4x TC, 1120 mm, ISO 1000, 1/60 sec, f/13, manual exposure, manual focus via Live View, 475B/3421 support.

Web version (there might be some artifacts due to resizing from PBase):

Wow, not too shabby for ISO. I have to learn to use higher ISO. I am so nit picky about noise in shots. Your pic looks great !

Wow! How are you finding the AF? Can it keep up with smaller BIF?

Excellent bird pose and colours, DoF just right.
Masterfully post-processed including noise removal.

I'm keeping my 1DM2 as a BIF specialist. The 40D's AF, while a bit better than my 20D, is still not in the same league as the 1DM2(N).

It's quite remarkable you can get that sort of sharpness at 1/60 sec @1120mm.

Very impressive!!!

I'm so wishing my 40D wasn't a citrus fruit!

Any E99's with yours?

Also, your Sigma must be a fine one indeed.

Best,

Michael
