I'm keeping my 1DM2 as a BIF specialist. The 40D's AF, while a bit better than my 20D, is still not in the same league as the 1DM2(N).

Romy

I agree get rid of the 40D by mailing it to my house. Don't forget to include that "soft" copy of the sigmonster you have...:)

Very impressive!!!

I'm so wishing my 40D wasn't a citrus fruit!

Any E99's with yours?

Also, your Sigma must be a fine one indeed.

Best,

Michael

Thanks, Michael.... no Err 99 so far on mine. I was one of the early adopters (Aug 29) and I tested two units at the store. One was consistently front focusing on all my long lenses, while the second is spot on. Of course, I bought the second one...:D

Would you agree to paying the postage? ;)

Excellent as always, Romy.

These pictures are showing what I'm seeing too - that the nature of 40D noise is very different to what the 20D/30D generates.

There seems to be far less chroma noise in 40D pictures, and the noise is very fine and granular with no "clumping" to hurt detail.

Because of this, I personally consider the 40D's noise performance to be better than my 30Ds to a very worthwhile extent (although I'm very happy with the 30D too), regardless of what some of the tests on the web have to say about it.

They'll clean up really nicely too: although having said that, I just downloaded the 1250 ISO picture and ran it through Neat Image and - to be honest - it wasn't worth the effort, because the original is so clean as is!

;)

This is an excellent example of how to control noise at high ISO by getting the exposure dead on. Excellent job!
