like the first shot more Dave. i would crop a little more of the branch on the second one .

Nice shots Dave, the compo of the 2nd one does not really work for me, the branch is a little distracting

Great angle on the first shot
I think the second would work well if the second shot was cropped from the left by about a third


Canon 40D, 350D, 550D and 7D :D
Sigma 105, 150 and Canon 100L Macro
Canon 70 - 200 F4L,
Canon 100 - 400L, the wifes but I borrow it !

The first one is a winner for me. Love the angle and the composition. Great work.

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated. Might play with #2 and crop and see what it looks like, although I do admit I like it as is - was deliberately framed that way to make the twig lead into the image. True, it does detract from the Hoverfly a bit, so I guess it's a trade off. I'm not sure if it worked that well, but that was my intention ;)
