Sorry to make my first post a question, but I am really curious about what you guys think are the better online classes.
For a little background I bought my first dslr earlier this year, bought a few books (including Understanding Exposure), found POTN, and now I am absolutely hooked. I spend hours a day learning everything I can........ If only I would have found this love for photography a few years ago and majored in photography instead of sociology. Anyway there are no classes or photography clubs in my area, and I really want to learn so I have decided to take some classes online. So my question is whether you would suggest a few courses from Perfect Picture school of photography or the New york institute of photography.

Welcome to the forum, and the world of photography!

I don't know anything about those two classes, but I have learned a lot from these two websites: http://www.radiantvista.com/ (external link) and http://luminous-landscape.com/ (external link)

I have learned a lot from the Photoshop Workbench and Daily Critiques. The podcasts and video tutorials are also very helpful. And it's all free (although they are asking for donations).

Luminous Landscape has a lot of Techniques, tutorials, and topics in the Understanding Series. Again, all free.

POTN is an excellent online photography class.

I'll second that! Look in the "Sticky"s. Shoot a lot. Ask questions. Shoot more... ;)
