It was raw, and my Noise reduciton on camera was turned off.
and none was applied in the raw processor.

No thats not possible. There is no chroma noise that means it IS gone through NR.

Unless it's being applied somewhere that i cant control then maybe.
But any options and sliders I have access to, are turned off, and at 0.

And like I said, if there is then I don't know where it's being applied.
:(
You guys can let this thread sink to the bottom.

Bukka, don't worry about the negative posts, and thanks for contributing.

Maybe there is NR, but as you have pointed out (several times) it must be coming from somewhere outside user control. People need to stop assuming someone is wrong when they don't even know the full circumstances.

Unless I've missed something, you haven't explained why you're certain.

Or is this something that you just "know"?

You two are quite the amazing talents...you can look at someone else's fairly low resolution webshots and determine exactly how they have been processed and what noise reduction has been applied. Please immediately forward your names and contact information to the head recruiter for the FBI....with your amazing talents, we should have all the crimes in the world solved by noon tomorrow!.

When you get your 40D back perhaps you could post a similar high ISO image with no NR to show us what you'd expect to see.

Funny how you and Farrukh so confident about that, without a single 40D between you...

I've noticed that my 40D without NR is amazingly low on chroma noise, and the pictures here are very like what I'm seeing from my camera.

i got iso 1600 samples with chroma noise, and im expecting even more with iso 3200 samples, but since you guys seem not to believe me...

you can obviusly see the noise levels here are like any other canon DSLR , 20 D ... 30 d... 400d... nothing new really.

i don't know about farrukh but i've owned 40D for three days, and sent it back to the store due to 7 hot pixels and 1 dead pixel, that you could clearly see in normal exposures.

Did you have the Highlight Tone Priority enabled?

.

i think it's not possible to have highlight tone priority on iso 3200... not shure

IF farrukh agrees to come with me :)
