A wasp from yesterday

Saw a few of these today, they were reasonably fast moving, had my chances but stuffed up the shots at my end, so not happy with myself. This was the only decent shot and is a crop. Wasn't really able to get different angles unfortunatley, not unless I'm lying in a very small rose garden with thorns etc This is a cropped shot.

I'm still very unhappy with my lighting, it's way too harsh, but no matter what I try and do, I just can't get nice soft even lighting...getting very frustrated with it all...

Do you have a diffuser on the flash ? - looks as if it could have done with some -ve FEC.
