Changing ISO to 3200 on a 20D

When I try to change the ISO on my 20D to 3200, all I get is an H. I set the camera on manual, set the custom function to On so that I could change the ISO, and tried to change it. When I rotate the dial, the read out goes from 1600 to H. Am I doing something wrong? I want to use the higher ISO for sports shots. I've had the 20D about 5 months. I upgraded from a Digital Rebel.

This is perfectly normal, its exactly the same on the 5D.

H is 3200 ISO and L is ISO 50. this is exactly how it should be

"H" denotes ISO 3200. Pages 49 and 143 in the 20D manual.

Its also not a true ISO3200, but really ISO1600 underexposed by 1 stop & then pushed back to normal exposure.

I wonder why Canon chose L & H over 50 & 3200, a bit odd.

I didnt think the 20D had an "L" setting, ISO50, or does it?

nope.

Thank you so much! The manual gets a little complicated and I find myself not being able to see the forrest for the trees!!

Best thing is to forget about all of the features, just focus on one task & dont move on until you have nailed it
