How do you tell how many you have? Ive tried opanda like I read one the net in different places but it doesnt show anywhere.

you can't unless you bought a new CF card and used only it from new. Existing software can only extract actuations for pre MK3 1 series bodies.

I got mine on June 5th. I have 6433 shots so far and most of them are in focus. ;)

i'de say 90% of my sports shots are in focus (only about 20% actually worth the shutter click though, content matters more than focus), but about 30% of my landscapes are.... probably because i mess up too much with hdr merges (10fps+landscape=easy hdr w/o tripod)

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

About 50k on my first one so far. I think the first 10k went past in about 3 weeks.

That won't do it unless you have only one memory card that was formatted when you started. I have about a dozen cards that I used in different cameras so I have no idea how many shots I've made. It baffles my mind why they wouldn't put a simple actuation counter in the firmware... it is just plain stupid that they don't. The only reason they could have is that they don't want their customers to be able to prove how many shots were taken if the shutter fails prematurely.... which is stupid, because it also means that they can't prove to the customer that they've over used it either. Imagine if no cars had odometers... how would you buy/sell used cars?

Ehh. I have several cards and used them in both 5D and 1D MK III but numbering continues from the last shot the camera took.

I concur on that as long as your set file name continuously in setting.

I got mine in June. I have 18,700. I hit 10,000 in the first month just figuring out the camera. I've slowed down a bit now.

Spray and pray photography? :)

I have been photographying kids soccer games a lot in the last few weeks, using 3pf. At each game, I take over 1000 photos, and I then choose about 20% of them and post them on the web.

And before that, I took a 2 week trip and took about 8k photos.
