Back in Dec 2006, a extratropical cyclone came thru and damaged the west side of Stanley Park in Vancouver BC. Winds were recorded up to 115km/h. About 60%% of the west side of the park was damaged, 40% of the park in total, with about 3000 trees damaged. Lets just say we don't get storms like this often.

That side of the park is still damaged to this day, and they are still restoring it as we speak.

I did visit the area about a week after it happened once they had removed some of the wood off the roads, but I never went back to take a good look. This weekend however, I did.

I went down with Cosworth and jjk02 for a Saturday afternoon stroll thru this area. I pretty much only shot with my 50 and my new 70-200. I didn't use my 17-40 once, so I don't have any 'wide' shots of the damaged area. I took most of that in visually.

Anyways, as the weather called, it was going to rain that day. It didn't once we got there, but about 30 mins into our stroll, the rain came. Lets just say I got my first test of my Canon weather sealing, and BOY am I happy!

I didn't take too many shots, but just a bunch of random ones here and there. I find that I actually like taking pictures of other people taking pictures. LOL, I guess I just like shooting people. As usual with shoots like this, I kinda went a little much with my editing, and went with a 16x9 crops for my shots. Alright, onto the pics!

The last picture is intresting. The color appeal to me somehow. The jeam's color brings life to it and how the shoes have been worn out a little. Nice atmosphere.

Thanks guys! Yeah I quickly took that shot of Jason coming down the sketchy bridge with my 70-200. There wasn't much place to move as there was a cliff right behind me!

Jason you got some good shots. I love the 'crack' shot you took. I think Jon wants you to post it :P Did anyone take any wides shots of that bridge when we were crossing it?

Great shots Jon! I love the angle that you took the spider shot at, and of course the last shot is so my favorite shot. Yes the DOF on that 50 rocks, specially if you nail the focus on it, just like you did. And you're right, weather sealing is so a plus. But a good camera jacket also helps as it seems to have done with your 20D.
