I caught this ol' boy on Saturday up in a wooden water tower built around 1900. It's the first time I've ever got close to a Great Horned Owl. Fortunately I had my camera.

I tried this one in B&W......I like it as much or even better that the color shots.

Looks good Mike. The eyes in #2 are amazing! They look fake. I really like the BnW as well.

Maybe too fake. Looks like it has been retouched. Forgive me if I am wrong, just wanted to point it out for your consideration if it was indeed retouched.

Very cool sighting, and that Great Horned Owl looks great perched on the old structure. :-)

Nice shots Mike and what better surroundings than an old abandoned building for it to be hanging out in. :)

aligater....I actually did get quite close to him/her.
MikeI....Their eyes are truly amazing. They stand out like a sore thumb, and seem to look right thru ya.
Steve....I see Great Horned Owls on occasion, but have never been able to get this close to one before.
plsurfer.....Thank you.
Daniel......They eyes may look fake but they are not. Very minimum amount of PS done to eyes. Only the second photo needed a little enhancing done.
Mitch.....Thank you.
GeoffSFAs10....I agree, the eyes have a fake and haunting look to them. In this case, that's how the camera saw them.
Gary.....That old building is a water wooden water tower, built at the turn of the century.
Scott.....Thanks, Scott....I too like the last one....He looking into my soul.
