Hi guys

I was thinking to buy a tripod mount from ebay for my Canon 70-200/F2.8L IS.

I was wondering if those tripod mounts are good material that won't break unexpectantly.
Anyone has any experience with it?

He's likely taking about one of these;

I don't know if they are any good or not, but they are shipped from China and I would be a little leary of that alone.

I bought one for my 70-200 f/4. While I saved a few bucks I don't know if I would buy one again. It works fine and I have had no issues with it, but I am very careful with my gear. I doubt it would withstand any abuse. THe paint is already wearing off as well. I don't know if the Canon version has some type of retainer for the locking screw, but the eBay one does not so it could easily get lost.

I buy hoods and such from various China/Hong Kong dealers, but I don't know that I'd buy this. I believe somewhere on this site is horror story of someone who bought one and the aluminum had a bubble in it and it snapped in half.

Fortunately, I have one of these with my 400mm f/5.6 so when I go to buy my 70-200 f/4 IS, I won't need a second one.

Yeah.. thanks guys.. I was thinking something like that... is it a good idea to buy from ebay? Or pay like 100 some for the real thing from canon. Or any other places?

Bought one for my 70-200 f/4 (also fits 200 2.8) and it works very well. Doesn't slip, hasn't fallen apart. I've got no complaints.
