Hi all,
I know that it has been in alot of posts before about what color settings to use, but if I can just pose this question.

I shoot RAW with my new Canon 40D, and use Lightroom/Photoshop CS3. I calibrate my LCD Monitor with a Spyder2Express calibrating unit.

I post a few photos to Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/93155677@N00/ (external link)
but my question is really about having prints from my files.
I send mine off to www.photobox.co.uk (external link) .

The reason for the post is that the prints dont quite match what I see on my screen as a file which I send off to photobox. For instance this photo :-
http://www.flickr.com ….gne?id=1452317413&size=l (external link)
I got back this morning but the print does not have the "punch" as it seems it should be based on the Flickr page. The brightness on the hull of the boat is alot more dull iin the photo, which is a shame as it detracts from the overall quality of the picture :(

I have all my settings in Lightroom and Photoshop as sRGB. Is this correct?
Or is the only way to really get the print quality I want is to oversaturate, and over brighten the file I send off, so that is comes back to me the way I want it?
I hope this is understandable!
Thanks

Looks like (external link) they use a Frontier.
They don't supply profiles yet, and recommend using sRGB. So you did that right.

You could try getting a Frontier profile, soft proof for it, make corrections as needed, then convert the file to that profile and save *as a copy*. (Some profiles here (external link), Generic ones here (external link))

I've softproofed the image with the generic Frontier profile, and the most change is in the wooden posts: Shadows get lighter.
Might be that the Frontier your lab uses is a bit different then 'generic'...

As long as you can't get their profile, the Q&D approach would be to use an adjustment layer to alter the file a bit before sending it in, but that's not the way it's supposed to work IMO ;)

Edit: If you tick the box "Simulate paper white", you get close to what the print should actually look like: "Ink on paper" is quite something different from "light off a screen".

Hi Rene,
Thanks for your time.
Where do I find the checkbox "Simulate paper white"?
Thanks
