Some Pictures of a few acts at the NACA South convention in Charleston, SC.
As a part of my campus's students activity board we went up to the convention and this is just a few of the showcases I took photos of.

Very difficult lighting, particularly blacks with dark/black background as it is hard to get separation even in good lighting ... I shot Al Wilson Saturday and had some issues. In the last one you might select out the vocalist and add a little saturation or adjust levels. Dwight McCann

Oct 03, 2007 00:28 | #3 Thanks for the comment. This was my first time shooting at a concert type event: I was a bit surprised at how easy it was to keep a decent shutter speed. The lights being as bright as they are though it was hard to get any background at all when they had both spots on the performers.

Even ones where the backdrop was really close the light fall off was so much that it put them in complete darkness. Yup, and I guess those black shirts with black hair and dark skin don't help either ... you'd think these guys would want to "Pop" visually on the stage as well as musically but musicians often are more interested in making some sort of statement with their clothing than worrying about looking impressive or being photogenic ... Al Wilson wore a bright red knee length jacket and he popped off the background even as dark as he is ... of course his smile is as big as all outdoors, too, and his teeth are a beacon! Dwight McCann
