canon 50 macro???

i have the canon 50 1.8, cant pay out money for a macro lens yet, so would getting a macro filter for the nifty fifty work??? Has anyone tried it, does it produce ok results???

You'd get better shots if you could get a set of Kenko extension tubes (or pro-optic from Adorama in the U.S. or Jessops set in the UK). That will let you shoot slightly above the max magnification (1:1) you get with a normal macro lens.

agree tubes are your best bet, set of Kenko tubes is $169. You can get second hand 60mm macro for about $300. The Raynox macro lens attachments wont give you much working room with that lens. Cheapest would be a coupling ring that allows you to reverse the lens on the body - about $25 http://64.233.183.104 …&hl=en&ct=clnk&​cd=3&gl=uk (external link). you have to preset aperture with reversed lens and obviously lose TTL metering.
