That stinger is fantastic Hatch. Wonderful detail. (Mind you, that's not to say the butterfly isn't excellent as well)

A superb series

Many thanks all. The scorpion was a challenge to photograph. :) I set up a flash on a stand above the little beast and bounced the light off my house. I used a sheet of foam board for the base. The scorpion would run and get to the edge of the board and would not leap/fall off. This really helped with the shots. I thought about shooting it indoors in my DIY light table...but...the thought of it getting loose...not cool. :)

Just a crop. :)

Thanks again all.

Fantastic shots, looked at the orginals on your flickr site along some of your others, blown away with the detail in them.

Okay besides the fact that these are amazing images... You were playing with a scorpion.... and put him on foam board and tried to make him stay there for your photo session... Are you CRAZY....???

I'm glad you didn't bring him inside the house... You're wife would have killed you... ;)

Awesome shots as always.. You are the bug master.

Excellent series of images Frank as usual, I really like the 2nd shot of the Scorpion, and the first shot of the butterfly (composition on the 1st butterfly shot looks better to me than the 2nd one).
