I just received my new Op/Tech Pro Strap which I ordered for my 10D. While the strap is very nice and it is comfortable; what I didn't like was the fact that the name "Adorama" was pasted on it. I really don't appreciate a company forcing me to advertise for them. Next thing you know B&H will be selling Canons with their name stenciled on it; or your lenses will have the retailers name on it like cars do. Is nothing sacred anymore?

What are your thoughts?

Yeah, I don't care for that kind of forced advertising either. The first thing I always do with a new car is to come home and remove their license plate frames. I would never accept a car with their chrome logo stuck on the back either. Not many dealers on the West Coast do that.

I bought my Op/Tech from a local store and it says Op/Tech on it.

Was the Adorama name removable?
I ordered a Tamrac Velocity 9 from Adorama, and they better not do the same.

Adorama

Yeah, I had a lousy experience ordering from Adorama, I placed an order for a few items from them and after finalising my order and receiving a confirmation reply from them. They then sent me another email saying my order was canceled because they do not ship to my country. My gripe is that if they do not ship to a certain countries, they should bar-off these countries name from the list so that people don't waste their time with Adorama.

That's because your strap is the one Op/Tech makes for general distribution. The one Ebbz got was made by Op/Tech under an agreement with Adorama to replace the Op/Tech name with Adorama. Not an uncommon practice.

Adorama

My experiance with them was less the satisfactory, they refused to ship an item to an address other then my billing address. Being active duty in the US Navy, I am not always at my billing address. B&H has been outstanding for the last year and a half, not only with pricing, but also shipping to an FPO address without blinking an eye. My recommendation is always B&H.

Yup, same bad experience here with Adorama.

You have to consider the fact that credit card info is actually stolen sometimes. If you were a victim of this you would probably have a different thought process. There are many, many, many companies that will not ship to different addresses. Sure B&H will do it today, but if they get enough fraudulent purchases they will stop it too.

I hope Canon doesn't do the same and start putting their name on camera straps

But seriously.... I can see not wanting any printing on a camera strap.. Adorama should have mentioned something about it.....

My experience is that Adorama is a good company to deal with. That having been said, plastering their name on things like straps, etc., is just wrong. Maybe if they were giving those things away-----

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

I guess I am swimming against the tide also. I have had a few experiences with Adorama........all good.

Bought a lens (EF2?-85) Did not like. Returned with no problems.

Pre-Ordered 1D MkII. Received 2 days after US release date.

Other smaller miscellaneous purchases......no problems.

Rob

P.S. I guess, I would have liked to have known, that I am buying a camera strap emblazoned with the Adorama logo.......but hey if it does not look chinzy, I sure it will do the job.

I'll agree with a few of the others but I think we are swimming with the tide ... have ordered from Adorama a number of times and ALWAYS an easy way to place an order, great selection and have recieved every order I've placed with very fast delivery times (1st order was my 10D, 28-135 IS lens and other accessories and it was on my doorstep before I had time to check if it had even been shipped)

As for the Adorama logo ... did they not have a photo of it on the website? Even if they didn't, could you have not sent it back? I've talked to them a couple times and while I never returned anything they have been MORE than pleasent to deal with. (ordered a grey market item. They emailed me and asked to call. I called and they were very apologetic that they did not have the item with grey market warrenty and asked if I would take the USA warrenty item for the same price. Very nice of them and that will get more of my business for sure!)

BTW ... what difference is there if it says "Adorama" or "Opt/Tech" on it? I bought a slinger camera bag with the Adorama logo on it. No big deal! Haven't seen anyone snickering as I carry the bag around. Then again, I'm not really into designer named stuff

I placed an order (see sig) from Adorama 2 weeks ago.
I sent a copy of my CC bill as they requested. 5 days passed, not a peep from them. So, finally I called, and was told I had to talk to the verification dept. They passed me thru, I got an answering machine.
I called again, the tech could not tell me the hold up, passed me thru to the verification dept. I got an ansering machine. This happened 2 more times. It wasnt until I said I would just cancel my order that they said they need more CC verification and didnt pass me thru to the verification dept. Well, all this was 4 days after I sent them the initial CC bill.
They didnt bother to call me (or email) to tell me further verification was needed. I think if I hadn't called them when I did, it may have been weeks! Well, like i said, it's now been 2 weeks, and they still havent shipped.

I am very well aware of that. Thanks so much.
