I had an interesting conversation with yet another stupid surfer who thinks that his local spot is some special secret.

Him: "What website do you sell your photos on?"
Me: "I don't sell them on a website."
Him: "So you don't put them on the internet?"
Me: "Just some photography forums."
Him: "Don't put them on any website, or else!"
Me: "Yea, okay."

The guy was about 50 years old. Grow up man.

VERY VERY nice shots. That last one is sick. Do you mind if I save it on my computer? I want to use it for my background for a little bit.

There's actually a sign (written in surf wax) that says, "No Cell Phones" at the front of the trail to the beach.

Of course I don't mind. I wish the waves were coming in cleaner so I could have got a nice clean shot with the jetty.

LOL, no cell phones, thats funny. I mean I Surf so i understand, to a point, that everyone wants to keep a break as uncrwded as possible. But to say something to a random photog. is just silly. Your shots are not going to make a spot get crowded.
And I like the way that shot looks, offshores, a little out of control, and a Surfer gouging a backside cut with the jetty and pass in the background. It is perfect in my opinion.

Nice shots... I like the first one: Good timing on the floater, looks like he is surfing so precise on that one...

You should have told him that you were with SurferMAg and you were just scouting a new spot for a breakthrough piece on new spots! haha.
To be honest though= localism is fading, im 24 and have seen it decline just growing up surfing, Only the old hardy locals have the bite left in them to be the way they are.
That being said i have seen camera equipment get smashed...so i keep mine in the bushes, haha.

People can be so selfish sometimes.

Liking the shots Ben! This place looks familiar to me...maybe north MOCO? Is this what you did rather than go surf out at 26th? Next time you go out hit me up. Are you working 10-9 through 10-15? I've got the friday, saturday, sunday off and there happens to be a contest going on that weekend.

I've been posting pics and reports on my blog for close to 8 months now - www.rinconsurfblog.com (external link)

Recently I began receiving personal threats (you might get hurt) to my own safety and property ("Your car might get keyed") if I didn't stop. U.F.B. Rincon is located in plain view of US Hwy 101. The Beach Boys sang about the place. Surfline has a page dedicated to it, and the post videotaped footage daily...

Localism now applies to the Internet I guess.

Great shots, btw!

Hey, I pay goodly taxes and up to high tide line (I think) I own those beaches and if those pansy boy surfers think they own the water then they're way beyond stupid. I wouldn't hesitate a second to involve the cops if I got threats, Bimmer! There are a lot of locals who will stand with you even if they aren't surfers. As for Surf, while I know he can take care of himself I think he ought to call the cops, too, and clean these surf-gangs out. :-) [Disclaimer: I am a friend of Surf's and a local near Bimmer.]
