Of couse the best is good glass on a good body, it is also the most expensive solution.

What I was trying to say is, if you have a $2000 budget, a $500 body and a $1500 lens will usually provide better results than a $1900 body and a $100 lens.

Please post some images that prove that a Rebel XT, XTI with an L lens produces bettter results then a 5D with the 85 1.8 or 50 1.4 Both of which cost less then 1/5th the price of the 5D.

That would mean you'ld have to find an 'L' first that's way better then the 50/1.4 or 85/1.8. Could be kinda hard ;)

But they each cost less then $400.00 so they just have to be POS ;)

Ive seen posts on here (I think from Ed) where he said the 50mm f/1.4 performs much better on the 5D than any other camera.

I find my L lenses perform better on the 5D than the XT, this trend is true for consumer grade glass too, when I used to own a Sigma 55-200 which is a real budget lens, it performed far better on the 5D than the XT, its not even designed for full frame, Sigma state its purely for APS-C cameras, but they are wrong, its a full frame lens!

Glass is important but the body shouldnt be thought of as not that important, generally a great lens on a cheaper body is preferable, but put that same lens on a better body & it comes alive!.

Hell the 5D with a good copy of the 50mm 1.8 could even do wonders...

The body is less important than the glass, but depending on the situation, especially low light, a 5D type camera can be a very important part of the puzzle.

Well the 5D certainly did wonders for the Sigma 55-200 which I used to use, AF accuracy was improved & it just seemed to perform much more solidly on the 5D, although it never had any major issues on the 350D either, just that it was a different lens on the 5D.
