So i just got a 30D, now that i can afford it with the price drop thanks to 40D's release (see, everyone wins).

And i am a little frustrated with the fact that a preview image takes at least 2 seconds to appear on the LCD screen. or at least most of the time it takes that long.

Is there somethign i am doing wrong? I am suprised by this because even the lightweight 300D previewed images in under a second.

Thanks

Have you got the long-exposure noise reduction set to ON? It shouldn't take that long to appear, and that's the only correct-functioning way I can think that it would be delayed.

Mark.

Maybe being impatient? The 30D is older technology (these days, a year is "old") and so will be a bit slower. The processing time on an XTi is in the vicinity of two seconds.

One second longer is just ... a second. Try switching to decaf. ;)

One serious thought -- what kind of memory card are you using? The processing time includes the write time and for a slow card (like 60X) this could be noticeable.

There is also the fact that while you are holding the shutter down it will not preview...

So if you keep it pressed it will not appear, try it!

Mad weasel has it,

it is the long exposure processing. Cause shorter exposure photos are blazingly fast compared to the 300D! YAY UPGRADES!
