Nice mug. I have one like it but it's a pencil holder version of the 24-105L. Except it was a gift, and for the shortest moment when I saw the box, I got excited ... but it was so light?! :)

By the way just wanted to share with fellow 400D users that I officially hacked my XTi today with the CHKD "400plus" firmware hack and I am loving it so far. :D

Haha at least I haven't accidentally packed it in my gear bag and gone out shooting as of yet. Now that would be really funny.

But hey right now that fake cup thing is my only L lens, so who am I to complain?

:D

Yeah it's an awesome camera. I made the decision recently to sell it but honestly I haven't been that worried that I've had no hits at all on it. It's really a great little camera.

I use Adobe Bridge to view my RAW files - then adjust them with Adobe RAW editor which is part of photoshop.

Lightroom can do all this for you too :)

shooting in RAW mode but cannot view the photos so i downloaded Canon's Codec but still nothing...also, what does ISO do during medium daylight shots and how does shutter and av mode react to low light such as indoors? thx, RLB

What do you want to view them with? You need an app like FastStone picture viewer to see both raw and JPEG.

You also could use the software that came with the camera (Digital Photo Professional or Zoombrowser).

You really need to read "Understanding Exposure" so you can understand how that exposure triangle (Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO) mix and match to create the best exposure.

As a quick tip, usually, in low light you would increase the ISO - that will allow you to get longer shutter speeds.

PS - unlike others, I would suggest you stay away from RAW until you understand exposure better. Just shoot JPEG until you can create good pictures out of the camera. Then move to RAW to make them better.

Also the Ben's Newbie thread (a stickey) will help you understand exposure better. https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=414088
