If I am reversing a 50mm and attaching it to a 100mm macro lens, where should I set my focus at on the 50mm? Is autofocus still available? If I am manual focusing do I use the 50 or the 100?

Also, would it be better to use the above setup or add extension tubes to the 100mm?

Thanks much,

zucchini

You normally set a reversed lens like that at infinity focus and the aperture wide open. Af may be available- depends on the light. It's easier though to preset the magnification (on the macro lens) and focus by moving the camera.

Using a reversed 50mm like that will give you about 3:1 magnification with your 100mm macro. Using a full set of kenko ext tubes will give you a max of 2:1 and probably better IQ. You can use both together and get to 4:1 :)
